| ![]() ![]() The Stamping Ground Ruritan Club is very happy to welcome "MELISSA'S COUNTRY COOKING' to their new location of 3345 Main Street, Stamping Ground. Owners, Melissa and Jessie Childress were looking for a larger location and the first floor of the Ruritan Building had just become vacant; negotiations began in early spring to relocate their restaurant just up-the-street. Working together with Jessie Childress, the Ruritan Building Committee (Wayne Murphy, Chairman, Brad Landry and Frank Farr) just completed a $20,000 renovation of the bottom floor of the building. There were a few bumps along the way but everyone involved is thrilled with the completed job. MELISSA'S is open daily at 10:30 am with daily specials (breakfast can be served all day). Thursday's special is the best meat loaf you ever put in your mouth. And, of course, Friday night is 'all you can eat fish, fries, cole slaw and hush puppies'. Monday, Tuesday and Thursday they close at 7:00 pm; Wednesday at 6:00 pm; Friday and Saturday at 8:00 pm. Other Childress family member is their young son, Jacob, and if you want a delicious double-decker, bacon burger, try the 'Big Jake'; guaranteed to put a smile on your face. Community Service is what RURITAN is all about. The members of the Stamping Ground Club felt deeply that our community needed a good restaurant and being a non-profit organization was able to make an offer that was affordable for the new business - making it a win-win situation for all. Drive down to Stamping Ground any time and check out the building. There's an area for old car lovers, antique lovers, fire fighters, movie legends like John Wayne and Don Knotts or just plain American nostalgia . . .you won't be disappointed!
